Ain't it funny how time slips away.

Fifty two years ago today, Don and I were married in the First Baptist Church here in Childress. I guess the preacher tied a pretty good knot as it is still holding. It has been a fairly even ride, with some bumps in the road, some coasting and some "hair spray and a match" bouts. Our anniversaries are always just another day in the life........... There are some things I would have done differently, in fact a lot of things. I often wonder how many of the marriages today will end up being 50 year anniversaries.
We have the four most wonderful children and they have given us the ONLY grandkids in the world.LOL Vestal Goodman has a song that says, I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now, and I guess that is the way I feel about the last 52 years.
Our celebration today was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for me and a TV dinner for Don. Our first rule in marriage was that I would do ALL the housework and laundry and he would let me.
"lIFE IS EASIER THAN YOU THINK------ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS THIS:
ACCEPT THE IMPOSSIBLE, DO WITHOUT THE INDISPENSABLE, BEAR THE INTOLERABLE AND BE ABLE TO SMILE AT ANYTHING."

Congratulations! I think young people (or even older ones) should take lessons from folks like you & Don instead of listening to 'professionals' about marriage. Love, devotion, experience and peanut butter sandwiches go a looooong way.
