Today is Calor's Day

No interesting things much to post, but since Calor just left, I'll embarass him a little.

This jumping picture is, I guess, the way he acts when he goes to a friend's house.

This is one of him and friends before Gabe moved away.

And of course..............his first haircut/

Lana's Birthday

Before I got up this morning, I planned on what to publish about Lana's birthday. Lo and behold when I signed in, Lacy had already posted about her birthday and it was very similar to what I was going to say. But............I'm going to do mine anyway.
Yesterday was my first-born's birthday and I won't say how old she is. But I will say that for the past 51 years, she has brought nothing but joy to our family. She was the "almost perfect" teenager, never coming home late and sometimes even before curfew. She was a twirler in high school (she even twirls fire) and went off to Hardin-Simmons for a short while. She came home and worked around town for a while before they married. After moving to Childress she taught dance and twirling for 6 years. I loved her recitals. Her kids and grands are the joy of her life as is Tony. She worked as aide in CHS for several years, then went back to get her degree and went on to master her masters. She is a very good counseler in Chillicothe as she is kind, soft spoken and understanding.
I made a cake for her yesterday, but she was gone to WF so I guess she'll get it today. Those of you who know her, know that this is all true and what a wonderful person she is. It's not too late to wish her a happy birthday.

Life's Frustrations

You pull a drawer out too far and dump the contents all over the floor. (Done that)

You have to try on a pair of sunglasses with that stupid little plastic thing in the middle of them.............(also)

The person behind you in the supermarket runs his cart into the back of your ankle.(hurts like heck)

There's always a car riding your tail when you're slowing down to find an address. (why)

You open a can of soup and the lid falls in. (Bummer)

The tip of your ballpoint pen leaves tiny blobs of ink on the page that smear on contact.(Yep)

There's a dog in the neighborhood that barks at everything. (Mine)

Your waiter removes your plate before you've finished that last bite. (Idiot)

A fire-engine red sock accidentally finds its way into your load of white washables. (I love pink)

Your toasty shower turns into a scalding nightmare when someone flushes the toilet. (How true)

Someone sitting near you on the train passes gas every seven minutes for the duration of the trip. People turn around and glare as if YOU did it. (Not guilty)

You forget to serve one of the dishes you made. (Last Thanksgiving)

You can't find your ticket stub to get back in. (Or bus pass, for me)

You get a shopping cart with one wheel that won't move. (always)

You accidentally spit in the face of the person you are talking to. (I am so sorry)

You have to cut tough steak with a plastic knife. On a paper plate. In your lap.(Picnic)

People start piling onto the elevator before you have a chance to get off. (Happened)

You have to open and squeeze five little foil packets to get enough ketchup for one hamburger and french fries. (I hate hamburgers)

You flush the toliet at a party and to your horror it rises...and rises...and rises...... (double horror)

You strike two computers keyss at the same time. (Never)

And my very favorite..........You just got your car washed and a bird decorated the hood.(Hate that with a passion.)

Random Acts of Kindness

This is "Random Acts of Kindness" Week

Here are a few things to think on:

Write a note to the boss of someone who has helped you, thanking him or her for having such a great employee.

Spend half an hour in a hospital emergency room and do one random act of kindness that presents itself.

Buy a roll of brightly colored stickers and stick them on kids' shirts as you walk down the street.

Open the phone book and select a name at random and send that person a greeting card.

When someone is trying to merge into your lane in traffic, let him in......and why not smile and wave while doing it.

Give another driver your parking spot.

Send a letter to a teacher you once had letting her know about the difference she made in your life.

Buy a cold drink for your entire row at a baseball game.

Ask an older pers to tell you a story about his or her youth, such as what her favorite song was and why or how he or she met their spouse.

Let the person behind you in line at the grocery store go ahead of you.

Next time you go over a toll bridge pay the toll for the car behind you and don't forget to take the poll taker.

Make a dedication on your local radio station to all those people who smiled at strangers today.

Send Josh Ackerman's family a card!

This is as exciting as it gets for me!

Being a stay-at-home person most of the time, this past week was so exciting for me. I posted earlier about my trip with Carli to WF and then on Friday, I went to the ballgames. I like to go early because I always sit in seat # 22......SEAT # t*w*e*n*t*y t*w*o!!!!!!!! I don't know why there isn't a pink ribbon on it with "Honeyma". If I'm ever late, and someone is in my seat, I hyper-ventilate. Of course I'm always on time. The games were good....the Friona boys coach is...............something else. Our girls lost but played their little hearts out. JV girls won

On Saturday, I went to Lacy's baby shower and it was so much fun. Young people are just tons of entertainment. Saturday night I went to the CASA event and enjoyed a good meal and entertainment. Dale Rabe gave good speech and David Davidson is absolutely the best and funniest auctioneer ever.

Josh Ackerman is on my calendar today. Please pray for his family.

WHAT EXACTLY IS "PERMANENT"

Yesterday, I took Carli to Wichita Falls to have her "permanent" retainer replaced. When we took her braces off a couple of months ago, Dr. Johnson put a "permanent"retainer on her upper teeth. I must have been foolish in thinking it would last. She has a night time plastic one for her lower teeth. ( permanent- adj: continuing without marked change in status or condition or PLACE). Well, since it did come out or break or what ever it did, I just assumed it would be replaced free of charge. WRONG. But whatever, she has a temporary one now to keep the teeth from shifting until she can get another "permanent" one. Have any of you had this problem and am I just stupid. But we had a great time anyway. We ate at Cheddars and went to Hobby Lobby for some things and messed around in the mall. Normally I don't do much walking since I'm home most of the time, but I wore my step meter yesterday and I took 14,060 steps. 14,060!!!!!!! The ideal number of steps a person should take a day is 10,000 at least. It's easy to fall short of that. I even had on loafers. Have felt great today.
